Thanbodday Pagoda

It is said of a must to visit. Whenever in Sagaing, for its art and architecture, which comprises 582,357 Buddha images of all sizes and was built around 1940, with the figure telling about countless number of the Buddha's lives before and after his enlightenment, which carry admonitions on good behavior.

Tri Lawka Gu Temple

One have a chance sighting mural paintings in the Trilawka cave, which was built around 1672, reflecting the influences of the Inwa period, much different from following centuries.

 

Myan Theindan Pagoda

Myan Theindan Pagoda

It is an aesthetic stupa built around 1820, which is the only pagoda symbolizing the ancient cosmology of the universe, which Mt Meru surrounded by seven mountains and seven seas in the legend.

Mingun Pagoda and Bell

On the west bank of the Ayeyarwady not far from Sagaing is the huge incomplete Mingun Pagoda and its accompanying Mingun Bell that is the biggest bell in the world, which reflect Myanmar's prosperity and civilization of the past  entrenched by a cluster of Buddhist shrines and monasteries.

Kaung Hmu Daw Pagoda

Another famous pagoda beyond the hills was styled after the domed shape of the famous Mahazedi Pagoda in Sri Lanka.
